We pay great attention to implementing responsible water use practices.
The key objective of TMK's Environmental Strategy in water protection is to reduce the anthropogenic impact on water bodies by rationalizing water consumption and reducing the discharge of polluted wastewater.
TMK’s water protection focus areas:
- Technologies and measures to reduce effluent pollution
- Effective operation of treatment systems
- Lower specific volume of contaminated wastewater discharge
- Higher volume of wastewater reused
- Higher water recycling ratio
- Improving the water supply and discharge monitoring system
The Company’s plants are constantly fine-tuning their water management systems. The year 2020 saw the commissioning of advanced water treatment facilities, namely AQA Genesis at Pervouralsk Pipe Plant (PNTZ) and AQA Crystal at Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant (CHTPZ). In 2023, CHTPZ launched another green facility, AQA Balance. AQA facilities ensure compliance with all environmental safety regulations and help to conserve water. For its AQA project, TMK won a national ECOTECH-LEADER award in 2022 and 2024.
According to the terms of the integrated environmental permits, Pervouralsk Pipe Plant and Sinarsky Pipe Plant are implementing an Environmental improvement program for the reconstruction of recycled water supply facilities and the construction of wastewater treatment plants.
