To calculate its GHG emissions (Scope 1,2), TMK uses both its own corporate methodology based on methodology of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and an international methodology based on GHG Protocol recommendations. In 2024, the Company began implementing greenhouse gas emission calculations for Scope 3.
TMK has set up centers of excellence for climate impact mitigation to look into decarbonization opportunities at each production site in detail. The Company identified and assessed physical and transition risks based on the recommendations of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the TCFD recommendations. As the result a Climate Change Adaptation Plan and a Low-Carbon Economy Action Plan have been developed.
Greening initiatives in the regions of operation are an important part of TMK’s environmental efforts, both within plant sites and beyond. In 2024, the Company launched a corporate greening program – TMK’s Green Initiative. The program places particular emphasis on selecting seedlings best suited to the specific climate and soil conditions of each area as well as on preparatory activities and further silvicultural care for the planted trees.
