TMK supplies Severstal with containers to transport steel

ETERNO, part of TMK, has supplied Severstal with about 300 customized containers from its new heavy-duty product line to transport steel coil. This is the first shipment of these products to Severstal.

The first batch included 294 containers, each over 6 m long, about 2.5 m wide and 0.84 m high. The products, manufactured to the standards of the International Convention for Safe Containers, are designed to transport steel coil by rail. They are welded steel frame structures with movable supports and fittings to secure the container to a flatcar floor.

Denis Makienko, TMK’s Director for Machine-Building Business Development, said:

“TMK is continuously expanding its customer offering with a focus on integrated engineering solutions. Our unique manufacturing capabilities and expertise enable us to tailor products to address a diverse range of our customers’ business objectives. New high-tech products for the steelmaking and steel transportation sectors drive growth in our order book and unlock opportunities to tap new markets.”

TMK’s portfolio includes several dozen commercialized engineering solutions for the steel industry. The ETERNO plant supplied its products for upgrading the steelmaking operations of Severstal and the BOF shop at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (part of Mechel Group), as well as retrofitting Novolipetsk Steel (part of NLMK Group) and the Aksu Ferroalloys Plant in Kazakhstan. High-tech TMK ETERNO products have also been used in the nuclear industry for the construction of Akkuyu NPP in Turkey and Kursk NPP in Russia.
