TMK teams up with Enter Engineering and the Russian Export Center to support the modernization of Uzbekistan’s gas transmission system

TMK, the Russian Export Center and Enter Engineering, one of the largest contractors in the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed a memorandum on research, technological and investment cooperation to modernize the nation’s gas transmission system. Total investment under cooperation projects can exceed USD 180 million.

Under the memorandum, the parties will identify areas of collaboration within the program to modernize Uzbekistan’s gas transmission system. The cooperation is expected to meet the national market needs in steel pipe and help the development of new types of tubular products, optimal supply arrangements and effective financial and investment solutions for common goals.

“TMK has been cooperating with Uzbekistan for 17 years now and is a major supplier of tubular products to a range of the nation’s industries. The Company sees great potential in Uzbekistani market, given the major projects for the construction and upgrade of trunk pipeline sections planned for the near future under the approved gas transmission system development framework. I am sure that the new memorandum will bolster our partnership, meet the needs of Uzbekistani companies in high-tech tubular products and expand TMK’s presence on this market,” said Denis Prikhodko, Director of Sales.

TMK started shipping tubular products to Uzbekistan in 2004 and delivered a total of 670 thousand tonnes of tubulars to this country between 2004 and 2019. Today, the bulk of shipments are oil country tubular goods (OCTG), including tubulars with innovative threaded connections designed for extreme environments. The Company also supplied large diameter pipes to Uzbekistan to build trunk gas pipelines, including for H2S service. TMK’s recent acquisitions, Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant and Pervouralsk Pipe Plant (Chelpipe and PNTZ) have been active on the Uzbekistani market for a long time and run projects in gas transportation in CIS countries. Chelpipe and PNTZ supplied pipes for a gathering pipeline at the Samantepe field in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Saryarka pipeline to supply gas to Nur-Sultan in the Republic of Kazakhstan, a section of the TAPI (Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India) gas pipeline within Turkmenistan, and other projects.
