TMK stages a unique theatrical performance at its plants to mark the Company’s 20th anniversary

TMK’s production sites have hosted the first series of shows of Production as Art, a unique theatrical performance by Russian director Vasily Barkhatov. The play was created and staged especially to mark the 20th anniversary of TMK at the production shops of the Volzhsky, Seversky and Sinarsky pipe plants and Taganrog Metallurgical Works (TAGMET).

The performance is a large-scale multimedia show, integrating live acting with graphic photo and video projections on several screens, as well as lighting and an original score. The play is based on a parable that incorporates the myths and legends of different peoples around the world, and gives a metaphorical account of the history of metallurgy. The show is tailored to each production facility: the graphic design is supplemented with plant-specific elements.

The summer tour began in May at Sinarsky Pipe Plant and ended in mid-June at Volzhsky Pipe Plant. The performance involved a team of 160 engineers and subject specialists with a strong track record of organizing successful events at unusual venues. Major preparation went into the staging at each facility, with the event organizers evaluating the technical capabilities of TMK’s production sites. During the tour, a convoy of 21 large-capacity trucks travelled almost 6,000 kilometers across the Urals and southern Russia.

“TMK’s facilities play an important role in the development of the regions in which they operate, serving as economic, social and cultural centers of gravity. We remind our employees, colleagues and partners about the creative role of metallurgy using a range of methods, including the language of art. More than 12,000 people watched the theatrical performance marking the 20th anniversary of TMK at our plants,” said Igor Korytko, CEO of TMK.
