TMK and Sinara Group’s R&D facility in Skolkovo earns international recognition for environmental and energy performance

TMK and Sinara Group’s R&D facility at the Skolkovo Innovation Center has earned LEED Gold, a highly acclaimed international green building certificate.

Following a multi-stage certification process, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) determined that the building meets LEED Gold requirements. Only 32 buildings in Russia have previously earned the certificate, and the building of TMK and Sinara Group’s R&D facility in Skolkovo became the 33rd to be included on the distinguished list.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building certification program used worldwide to certify buildings that are designed and built to be efficient and sustainable.

The Skolkovo Innovation Center hosts the research and development facilities of a large number of Russian and international companies; however, TMK and Sinara Group’s R&D facility was the first to be certified to this level.

TMK and Sinara Group’s R&D facility in Skolkovo was launched in late 2019. It features research laboratories designed to explore and develop new materials with increased strength and reliability, including special steels and alloys. The R&D facility also boasts Russia’s only integrated set of test benches for full-scale physical testing of pipes, connections, and other complex structures.

“The successful LEED certification of TMK and Sinara Group’s R&D facility in Skolkovo is a major milestone in the implementation of our environmental policy and environmentally responsible management, which have today gained international recognition,” said Igor Korytko, CEO of TMK.
