New Pipe Rolling Mill Installed at TMK-ARTROM

A new CPE pipe rolling mill (Cross Piercing Elongator) has been installed at the TMK-ARTROM pipe plant, a subsidiary of OAO TMK, in Slatina, Romania. The CPE pipe rolling mill will produce general purpose seamless pipes which are used in the machine building industry. The mill’s annual production capacity is approximately 100,000 metric tons of pipes.

In attendance at a ceremony marking the event were Dmitriy Pumpyanskiy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OAO TMK, representatives of Government of Romania – Cristian David, authorised Minister of introduction of programs with international financing and EC legislation compliance control, and Mihaj Vojku, Authorized Minister of relations between the Government and the Parliament, – Alexander Churilin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Romania, Konstantin Semerikov, CEO of OAO TMK, and Adrian Popescu, President of TMK-ARTROM.

According to Konstantin Semerikov, CEO of TMK, this new facility will make it possible to create products that are in demand in both the world and European markets, create new jobs and promote the social and economic wellbeing of Slatina.

TMK-ARTROM together with TMK-Resita metallurgical works are forming a single production complex comprising the production of steel, billets and seamless pipes for the European market.
