TMK and Gazprom develop scientific-technical cooperation

TMK and Gazprom have confirmed a Programme of Scientific and Technical Cooperation for 2006-2009. The main aim of the document is to coordinate the companies’ efforts in assimilating import substitution and new types of pipe products with high technical and economic specifications to cover Gazprom’s requirements.

According to the 2006-2009 Programme, together with the leading scientific-research institutes of Russia (OOO VNIIGAZ, FGUP TsNIIChM, OAO RosNITI, IMET RAN) TMK will conduct a range of works on assimilating the production of large-diameter electric-welded pipes. The series of prospective products being developed jointly be specialists from TMK and Gazprom contains corrosion-resistant drilling pipes from high-strength metal with internal smooth-wall cover, super-hermetic threaded joints of casing and oil-well tubing pipes, as well as other kinds of new products.

TMK is a traditional supplier of pipe products for the needs of Gazprom. Over the first 6 months of 2006 TMK has shipped to Gazprom more than 150,000 tonnes of pipes, including around 110,000 tonnes of pipes of diameter 1420mm for main gas pipelines.
