Deoxidant/ Deoxidizing Agent/ Desoxidant

1. A chemical agent with greater affinity for oxygen than the metal constituting the base of the melt. The substance is added into the molten metal, to remove free or bound oxygen. 2. A substance, used in seamless pipe manufacturing for treating inner surface of pierced shells, which, when in contact with the heated shell surface, reacts with the metal, forming a film that prevents scales, and carries additional lubricating properties. Most widely used for pipe production at continuous pipe rolling mills.
